Big Man Wins!!
hey guys i just got back from my contest. i placed 1st in the middle weight novice and the middle weight open classes at the nortwest arkansas classic. i got to be in 2 over-all pose downs which was a blast. i have decided against doing the arkansas classic as my physique is not the quality i would like to step on stage with at that show.
im going to work on putting on more size and tighting up lose skin problems that i have. and then go for the arkansas title newt year!!!
PICS TO COME!!!!

Congrats on your victory...
I was at your show, but didn't stick around for the open class. You looked good. I was looking forward to competing against you and the guy who came in 2nd against you in the novice class (Brent works out at the same gym I do). My wife was the one who gave Gunther the hug when he was out in the audience. She told him, "I told my husband I couldn't reach all the way around you." And she couldn't! Big guy.
I was going to enter that show, but didn't think I was ready.
That light weight novice class looked really tough. My friend Mike Hatchet from Dover trained the guy who came in 2nd and 5th.
I'm trying to suck on down right now. I'm ussually in the lightweight class, currently at 175 and am hoping to stay in the middleweight class. My carbs are like zero right now, so I hope to stay about this weight after I lose a few pounds of water and then carb load.
Man, I would trade all my shitty trophy's at home from the Arkansas Classic for that sculpted trophy you won. Keep up the good work.Last edited by baldbeefman; 05-29-2002 at 09:21 AM.

Beside from the nice trophy's, it seemed like the show was poorly run. The emcee's where pretty bad, sound was awful. Judging questionable (as always). The stage was shabby. I heard the scales were off 10 pounds for the weigh in, and they changed it but not till after quite a few had already left. Then they let people enter the novice and open class for your weight (as if they were just wanting the extra money for entering another class). I've heard of people entering teen or masters class and then entering in open or novice also. But that was the first time I'd every seen them let competitors enter both novice and open for the same class, same contest. Its as if Chad Nichols just let everyone else handle the details and nothing got done. I spoke with one of the local judges at the show and he said he was almost embarassed to be associated with them.

baldbeefman...hows it going...i also competed at the NWA...i was in the class with the guys your friend trained... i placed third..me and cory got to know each other pretty well and still email each other some...and you are right about that show being poorly run..they where letting opens cross over to novices and shit..WTF is up with that!!!...all those guys were where trophy hounds...and the lightweight didnt deserve to win anyways!!...did you end up doing the AR classsic??..i finished second out of 14 in the middle weight class..i weighed in the lightest guy in the class to!...the guy that beat me out weighed me by about 15 pounds..but ill be back next year bigger and even in better shape..hope to see you there
