    posing questions

Hi all, great to read all your success stories, looking for some success myself. Entering my first contest in April 2007, I have a training coach and a contest coach, however he has not entered a contest since 1980, and things in contest posing has really changed. Does anyone know of any DVD's or the like on the subject. I am 232lb 17% BF and in my bulking phase really piling on the pounds, every one is asking if I am using, the answer here in GB is "nothing illegal" all the brits will understand. Feeling really confident. If I can get over this issue of posing then I will be super confident.

Thanks for this fantastic link, just wondering if you could help me with another point. I have chosen a classical peise, dual of the fates (from star wars phantom menace). I have watched many amateur posers and found that too much is squeezed in to 90 sec. Do you think that quality is better than quantity. Especially for a powerful classical piece. The other reason for my choice is, that the other competitors ar all playing load dance music, I just wanted to make an impression. what do you think?

For me I prefer quality of quantity. Just make sure you get all or most of your mandatory poses and throw in a couple creative poses that show your physique best. If you have a weak body part or a week pose. You could modify the mandatory pose to hide it or skip the mandatory all together. For example if you have a weak back, don't hold your back poses facing the audience for a long time. Do them quickly and turn back around and show your strong points.

I don't listen to hip hop, rock or a lot of popular music. I posed to a slow song. Andrea Bocelli - Con Te Partiro. http://homepage.mac.com/carlos/.Musi...%20seconds.mp4 I did slow classical poses and a number of creative poses that fit the music and my physique. My music was TOTALLY different from every one in my show. I was told that people liked my routine and that is was very different. All of the other guys rushed through the poses or danced and they said I held my poses for a very long time and it looked good.

If this is your first show and you're not an exhibitionist like some guys, pick something that fits your personality. Something that you like and you are comfortable with. If you do not like the music and it's not "your style" people will be able to tell when you're on stage. Good luck and have fun.

Carlos thanks for the advice, that puts my mind to rest, as I feel compleatly happy with my choice of music, I look for ward to lifting a trophy, I will drop you a line again, if thats ok. I am sure I will ahve some other questions. It is the posing I need to work on, I am quite large for my class, what I will need to work on is my cutting as I carry a little weight at the moment, (17% BF).

I Know exactly what you are thinking. its your first show and you never diet down before, so you are thinking you will go onstage around 200lbs. Well i'm not trying to break your heart just want you to know what to expect. by the time you get down to about 4% BF you will weight in around 175lbs. which is not bad at all for the first time stepping on stage, just dont freak out when you think you are loosing all your muscles you worked so hard to get. Just go have fun with it bro.
