Contest and DIETING!
Do you feel like total shit precomp, like on death's doorstop from not eating + cardio + training until you eat and then you feel good for an hour or so, then back to feelin like piss, then eat and feel good, etc.....how does it feel? Just curious...are you wtching the clock for every 2 hours or are you usually ok with it?

I feel run down period. I really don't like to do cardio and doing cardio while on a limited calorie diet is even worse. I just keep my mind focused on the goal and realize that sacrifices have to be made to reach that goal. I put everything else out of my mind and just get it done.

good stuff bro....question...you are training, still intense, sometimes 2x a day, so dont you feel like hell? DO you get that sunken face, drawn, etc......and then doesnt it get better after you have a small meal and then back to where you were an hour later?

There is no reason to be training 2x/day while prepping for a show. On a restricted calorie diet your not building any muscle, and cardio is what's helping you with the fat loss, not weights. All weights 2x/day will do is sacrifice muscle, UNLESS your training super-light, that is getting the blood into the muscle and a little pump, and then leaving it alone. My face gets really sunken in, starts about weeks from the show, I look like a heroin addict!!

but dont you feel better after you take in a meal...that's the point of the thread I guess....what is it thats doing it? Is it the lack of food, the overtraining? Is your body saying thank you after a meal and then "what the hell was that" when it realizes it wasnt enough?

It's the diet that does it, of course. Your getting to the point where your body is running out of places to pull energy from when your into single digit fat, so in turn you get run down and tired. Then, when you eat a meal, your body has more energy. But because your metabolism is so fast, and even though you just ate a meal, in the whole scheme of things your still starving because your burning more calories than you've consumed, and have been doing it for quite some time now. The result, you look better and better, but get fatigued and more fatigued. Good luck

Besides from feeling like absoute crap, i also was a huge crab ass......Started alot of fights in my home about absolutley nothing, then when i calmed down i felt like crap because i knew i was wrong......all in the all, dieitng stinks, and if youre not feeling like crap, then youre probably not training and dieting hard enough, but just keep your eye on the prize, and convince yourself that the other guys in the show arent doing half of what youre doing, and use it as motivation.

I only get 'tired' during the last 2-3 weeks prior to the show... The 'depletion phase'.
Otherwise i'm good.. I get stronger tru-out my contest prep... and only weaker during the last 2 weeks.
And i'm drug-free while dieting to boot.
My carb intake is spread equally tru-out the day so i don't have an ebb and flow of energy levels.
Honestly i feel better during my contest prep than i do offseason.
Healthier as well.
Well.. 'cept for the last 2 weeks of it.. as there's nothing more unhealthy than what we do during those last 2 weeks.

I am about like nark. I feel great during contest prep, at least up until the last few weeks. I feel healthier, lighter on my feet and I feel like my body is A LOT more efficient. I do not need near as much sleep at night as I do in the offseason. I am full of energy, awake, and alert all day...though this could partly be due to the thermogenics. Not to mention I like the way I look a lot more. Cardio flat out sux balls though...ain't gonna lie LOL

I'm actually in the process of getting semi-shredded for a modeling competition (I know it sounds funny, but a buddy of mine did one and may end up on the cover of men's fitness). The comp is in may.
As far as bodybuilding goes my coach and I both know I need to add more mass and work on my symmetry. The good think about the modeling comp is that it's really not that intense, so I don't have to diet very hard at all. Then either November or May '08 I will do a bodybuilding comp again.
I don't really have to do two a days, but I just prefer to split the 60minute session in two. I work at a gym so it's easy to do and I feel like it goes faster that way.
I was mostly going just for the humor of it all
