    Show date is approaching

Alright guys im starting to prep for an up coming show which will be on May 26. Im about 19 weeks out right now, and thinking of starting my prep at 16 weeks, but am unsure because i am only 192lbs right now and still fairly lean from the last show i did. Last time i started at about 215 and lost close to 40lbs in 13 weeks. I think this time im gonna go nice and slow, that way i wont have to mess with the insane amounts of cardio i was doing last time. I will post some pics and a proposed diet and supplement plan in a few, but for now just giving you guys the heads up, and looking for some support. I SERIOUSLY want to bring home the first place title this time! It would be f*ckn awesome if they would pass out championship belts like in the UFC.

Good Luck to you too.....Yeah, its sweet cause we can pick each others brains and see what is working and what is not.....When are you starting your prep, what are you current stats, and what class are you shooting for?

Well this is my first comp.. so i will be picking your Brain lol...

In Ontario we have a level system Level 1 (is for newbies or people who didnt place in the top-three the previous time they competed)

So for level 1 the weight class is (very amatuer)
    165 and under
    165 and over thats it..

I will be in 165 and under...

Right now im 5'5 160ish prep is gonna start about 11 weeks out (cutting close its going to be very restricitvie)

    oh and good luck man

If intrested here is a link to my most recent pics (in my journal )

you already look very lean....im guessing around 10% BF. You look very good. I know you have other guys helping you who may be more experienced, but if you want my opinion, do not start you prep 11 weeks out, especially because this is your first show and you have know idea how your body is going to respond to the manipulation you will be putting it through. In my opinion, it is better to have more time, then to be running out of time. I dont think you need to start at 16 weeks, however, start at 14. This will give you an extra 14 days, which doesnt seem like much, but actually is. I think i made some drastic improvements in the final ten days before my show. Ill be around, and well chat more......See what the other guys have to say

I cut for 10 weeks for my first comp and 17 for my second. Although i feel the longer diet was beneficial in many ways I became a little complacent in places because i had so long in which to diet.
How much weight do you have to lose? If you are only dropping 10-12 lbs then id say 16 weeks may be a little long, but if you are needing to drop 15+ then a slow and steady 16 should be fine.
    Dieting for longer sucks though
Next time im compete i'll be doing about 8-9 weeks, but thats just because im only about 12 lbs over my contest weight these days.
    Good luck mate.

Well, the last show i did i was 176, and once again planning on competing in the same class, middle weights, which i beleive is from 154-176. Since the show, which was dec 9th, i gained only 16 lbs, so that puts me around lets say 195 lbs, so technically i have 20 or so lbs to loss. I agree that dieting longer does suck, big time, but so doing all the exta cardio if you are behind. Trust me i know, i was doing 2 hours a day for like a month, and i was still behind last time. So this time im gonna just diet alittle longer and hopefully i wont have to do nearly as much cardio. Yeah dieting sucks, but i can deal with it, cause i think i have very strong will power, plus i really want to win.

Bad idea, I think you should start at 12 weeks out if your fairly lean already. Think about it, 2 lbs a week will put you down 24 lbs, plus 6-10 lbs for water, now your down over 30 lbs, plenty of time

I think dieting slowly is a good idea. If you diet slowly and do things right, you will probalby be able to put on a little muscle in the process, and stay fuller, helping you come in more full on show day with less work to do as far as carb/sodium/water manipulations. Just be careful and watch closely to make sure you are not coming down too fast. However, if you have only gained 16lbs since your last show, then judging by your conditioning at your last show you should come in about 5-7 lbs lighter (assuming you havent gained any muscle). I am sure you gained anywhere from 1-5 lbs of muscle so your weight should be just lsightly lower than what it was for your last show (but with much better conditioning of course ). Therefore, you probably have around 18-20 lbs to drop. I would diet for around 14 wks...this will put you losing about 1 pound every week, except for the last week in which you will lose more of course (water & depletion). I will say this though, just because you are dieting longer and do not have as much to lose, does not mean you will still be able to avoid 2 hrs of cardio towardf the end. For some people it is neceassary to keep the cardio higher and the cals higher.

Whats up Spound.....Ive already begun to clean up my diet this week, trying to cut out all the unneccesary calories. I actually think im going start a strict contest diet at sixteen weeks out. I know you suggested 14, but i think 16 is better, however i will be keeping a close eye on my weight and determing any modifications i must make to my diet, for instance, adding or subtracting calories. Also, i want to see if the fat will come off without any cardio, just because im curious, so by starting 16 weeks out i can play with this. I thinl ive put on a decent amount of muslce, both because of the way i look and the reaction of others. I will put up my pics when i offically begin deiting. I should also mention that i havent used any supplements since the show, and am not planning on running anything till 12 or 10 weeks out, depending upon how i look and my money situtation. This is my proposed diet starting at 16 weeks out. I use cooked weights for my protein

    Meal 1: 10 egg whites
    1 yolk
    1 cup of oats

    Post Workout: 10grams of BCAA's
    2 scoops of pure vitargo

    Meal 2: (1 hour later)
    6 oz chicken breast
    1/2 cup brown rice
    Brocolli

Meal 3: 6 oz chicken breast
    1/2 cup brown rice
    Brocolli

Meal 4: (This is on days that i cant eat between my classes)
    2 scoops of whey
    1 oz of raw almonds
    5 grams of BCAA's

    Meal 5: 6 oz cod
    Salad
    1 oz raw almonds

    Meal 6: 6oz flank steak
    veggies

Estimated Totals: Carbs 250grams, Protein 280grams, Fat 60grams
