lifting for BB
does a BB workout differ from basic lifting. for example I was told 12 total sets for chest but a couple guys competing at my gym do around 8-10 sets of flat bench, 8-10 sets of incline and so on. What do some of you experienced BB recomend?

what do you mean, BB work out vs. "basic lifting"?
what are your goals?

I just noticed the Body builders in my gym doing an extreme number of sets with each exersize. My goals are to be more defined which is achieved with a more strict diet than I have now.

well, take a visit to the diet forum then.
regarding the number of sets, 20 sets of pressing movements for chest would be over-training for me. 12 sets of chest is fine.

Sometimes precontest bodybuilders may do more sets than usual as they are working at a fast pace and are not taking every set to failure.

dont forget most bodybuilders are running ALOT of gear with other stuff aswell, so they do have alot better chances of recovering
