    Bodybuilding Rule Change Ideas

After attending a bodybuilding show this last
weekend and seeing some folks get absolutely
killed in the judging I came up with an idea I think
that would level the playing field. What I noticed
is that overall shorter bodybuilders did way better
than taller ones of the exact same weight. What
I propose is that bodybuilding is judged on a ratio
of bodyweight to height. This would place similarly
proportioned athletes against one another. Of
course, there should still be an open class where
anything goes. I just feel that this would make
it more fair for taller athletes. BTW I am 6'5" tall.
    Thanks for reading. Mark

a number of natural bodybuilding federations, as I understand it, have height/weight classes. So, for example, there'd be a 6'2" and above over 210 and 6'2" and above under 210 class. I'm sure that's not the way they're actually divided, but a show in Providence RI a few years back ran it to that effect.

i know i've looked at a few organizations' web sites and some do bring height into effect. I think being at 6'5 is gonna be awfully tough to compete at, too much frame.

6'6 here dont let them get u down. U'll be able to compete if u have the intensity and heart of a champion. Plus u might have to "make your own genetics" if you know what i mean.

Weight classes are kind of set for height, nationals would be a good example to look at. If you'd go and look at the light weight division you wouldn't see many people taller than 5'7" at the most. Just like you won't see many 5'6" people in the super-heavyweight division. For your muscles to look full and you to have good size and symmetry at 6'5" you'd have to be a heavyweight or a super-heavyweight. Bodybuilding is a sport for shorter people, I'm 5'7" and I've come to realize i won't be a pro basketball or football player, but a dream of mine is to one day be a pro bodybuilder. Not tryin to piss anyone off just stating things like they are. peace.
