    skull crushers...

I'm 42 and lifting on and off most of my life. Been training religiously the past 2 years.
    I'm currently running a sust cycle, 250 twice a week, I'm 4 weeks in.
All is going well with gains, however, the past two triceps workouts have become quite painful when I do skull crushers. Even at warm up weight (40lbs.) By the time I get to my working weight (110lbs) I'm in agony! But I push through it. It's not muscle pain, it's right at my elbows.
Anyone here ever experience this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

It's called epicondylitis. Caused by inflammation and repeated stress at tendon-ligament-muscle junctions. It's a common problem with steroids because your muscles out grow your ligaments.

What do you recommend? Change up exercises? Or back off on the amount of weight? Any direction is appreciated.

Hey Bowen. I'm 39 and been training consistently for about 15 years. When I have that problem I skip the skull crushers and go to close grip bench and cable type movements that don't hurt my elbows. About three weeks later they've usually recovered about 90%. Old age is hell, I know. good luck bro.

Skull crushers do put the most strain on ligaments. Agreed, close grip bench is great. I also like overhead rope extensions. Not as much strain.

I have the same problem with elbows on this exercise. I suggest to go with a lower weight and take it slow if u want to continue this exercise in your routine. Dont push yourself to injury bro.
