    competitors - when do you drop powders

    Hear alot of guys drop all shakes couple weeks out and even drop BCAAS and pre workout . What do you all think? Dryer look?

    I don't have shakes at all, get all my protein from whole foods

    I do consume a lot of powders but its out of convenience not because they are a better choice. Whole food is a better choice and preferred to protein powder...i would say drop it 2 weeks out if you can, the result might be 1% difference but at this level when on stage every little bit helps, nail everything else and this can be a difference between 1st and 2nd...

    Like Mike said, 2wks out for the protein powder is usually good. Most diets I have 1-2 shakes per day, completely out of convenience, no other reason. As the diet goes on the shakes start to become more sporadic simply because I need more whole food. So in some cases I could easily be dropping all shakes long before 2wks out but if they happened to still be in there, 2wks is a good rule of thumb.

    All other powders, the most important aspect to consider is how many calories are those powders causing you to consume. Secondly, are they various powders enhancing or taking away from your conditioning, not size but conditioning. If they are, drop them several weeks out.
