    I got what I deserved - I have a virus. HELP!

Ok so thats that for downloading torrents and keygens.
My computer changed my background, and it says

WARNING : Spyware infected on your computer.

I ran Adaware, and removed some stuff.
Then I installed AVG Free and it found some things, but it cannot be removed because it is still in use.
    HELP!
    CARDIO

Google for "Combo Fix". That should help you out, once you run this ASpyware program like twice, then download AVAST AV for free and do "a root scan on next reboot".

    Whatsup Max.
It says I have to be a v. experienced PC user....
    Should I go for it?

I don't want to mess with the registry as I never have....
I could have a guy come here....

The virus/adware/whatever it is not hurting my programs...
except Firefox, and IE opens with a fake warning to click here to fix the adware.

Its not slowing me down though.
Im telling you this so you know what kind of adware I have.
    What do u think?

reboot your computer and keep pressing F8 while its booting up ..
a screen will come on and allow you to choose START COMPUTER IN SAFEMODE w/ NETWORKING SUPPORT
once you've done that make sure your adaware is updated and rescan - you might also want to get yourself SPYBOT - Search and Destroy - its free and it will keep your computer clean ..
IF a file is not cleanable because its in use then its running in your memory and when you start in safe mode it should fox that problem ..
    Good Luck

Depending on what you have aloowed in ot your sustem will determine what damage you have done by doing so.
i have had she dloads of worms trojans etc you name it ive had it. Thing you will notice once you do everything in your power to get rid of them is, you dont really fix it a great deal.
Im not saying its permanently fvcked but it will have effected you for the worst.

Once you get a virus you cant really 100% completely get rid of it without fromatting your hard drive and reinstalling the operating system.

If your pro windows you wont want my advise as i hate anything to do with Microsoft.
But if you are open to suggestions i would say partition your Hard drive and install Ubuntu on it to dual boot with windows.

i know i like to bang the Linux drum but the statistic shows true......

Microsoft, up to 1000 new viruses everymonth
Linux? about 50 in 15 years

But in what you are wanting to achieve i would suggest downloading Ccleaner and spybot serach n destroy.

You pretty much need something with a registry scanner that will get rid of the values that are not supposed to be there

Hi have you checked your services and processes for any malicious .exe's etc if you need more help just ask. Also try Avast anti virus, it's free and a very good programme. If you find a service or .exe in your processes, cancel it then try and remove once not running.

Cardion, I know this is a fairly old thread and id assume you got the problem fixed, however if you havent I can prolly help out.

However im not on my computer right now (that got infected itself a coupla months back) but I had to get a ton of stuff to get rid of stuff like Ad Aware Scanners, CC Cleaner, KillBot and so on, but probably not till the weekend. Backdoor Trojans are the absolute worst and even when your system says they are gone, they can remain.

IF you are still having a problem, let me know here or via a PM and I can let you know around the weekend. If you havent already, get a memory stick/flash drive as those viruses not only redirect your web searches, but they prevent you from getting into Anti Virus/Malware sites. You can download these things onto a memory stick from someone elses computer and then run them onto your comp.

Also if you havent already, download Mozilla Firefox. It has loads of built in security features, as IE is pretty prone to virus attacks in this day and age.
