Id like a setup where I can play newer games as well as have be a HTPC. So, I was thinking A newer AMD quad core, at least 4 mb ram, HD GPU, solid state disk drive for my OS and gameplay, and at least 1 TB HDD for all my open source copies of the Bible I torrented. Was thinking of using Win 7, but am reading mixed reviews. Not real sure about the tuner card or converter. Still very new to building and im not real sure what ill need for DVR functionality. I want to be able to record from two different sources,or watch one and record one.

It can be vary expensive to build an all in one system.
I would suggest building several computers.

As far as what hardware to use, that is so tough, you will get a different answer from everyone on this board. Buy the best you can afford

Assuming I already have a nice PC that plays all the games I like, what makes the HTPC that much more expensive? The very best tuner cards seem to be pretty cheap. Big HDDs are pretty cheap, and the SSD is already bid into my build.
