Can I ask what you want to encrypt and who you want to make sure that doesn't see it.

Manic .. Props for the avi... But I've read that none of that works when somebody with unlimited resources is trying to access info... Aparently the only real way is to destroy then hard drives in millions of pieces ...

anything that can be encrypted can be decrypted. And the police, with educated computer wiz's and a lot of money can crack any description. The only one way to do it is to set up a safeguard or fallback system where when an unauthorized access is made the system releases a virus that destroys all information on said hard drive. That or pay for a 3rd party to store your information, like online, in another country your police have no authority in.

Well if you live in the us and your drives are encrypted and they cant decrypt it and you refuse to give the password, you will face jail time

But if you still insist check out truecrpyt it will take them forever to bruteforce it

they dont need to bruteforce, the police have a large number or decryption algorithms in their databases, dont try to encrypt things away from them, its near impossible, even by the best of us.

You need to design a purge virus, that when on command enables a virus to permanently destroy all files specified, thats the only way.

If you know any 2nd, 3rd order binary languages you could easily create a purging software, but if your like the many that do not then your only other option is to purchase a purging software. There are many of them on the web, just go to google and search, "permanent file deleting software" or "file/data purges" and have a flick through the list. Most have to be paid for, however, some are free if you could find the right one. I am using sytematic advance system optimizer, and it comes with a sensitive data purger, ie, it permanently removes the files without ever a chance to recover them.

Because basically what happens when you delete and a file normally, all the operating system does is unlink it from the database, however it is still there, and will always be their on a specific disk segment until another file or memory is saved over it, that could take months or even years depending on where that segment it or if it has been fragmented or not. Anyone with a disk segment head reader can read your deleted files, and yes that means the FBI and police can, hell even i can, i have one laying around here at home.

Another good method is a strong EMP pulse or super strong electro magnet put close to the drive.... but that will erase all data, .

Are you guys out of your mind 256 bit AES redundent encryption with a 17+ random character passcode = a mean time of like 5 billion years to crack... the NSA uses it lol... I dont care how much money they have...

    And Truecrypt 4 ever!!! lol

Do you really think they will try bruteforce their way through a trillion combination's? Hell all it takes in one very ingeniously created algorithm and your on you way. Hell, in my first year, first semester at University, we got taught how to create algorithms, now i can crack nearly anything. I even cracked my brothers porn folder (found some weird shit there), which WAS truecrypt, then he switched to 'hide folders xp' and yes i got through that as well. Its even easier when you set up a key stroke logger on the comp before hand and have that do the dirty work.

PGP is probably the best free encryption you'll get. Encryption is obviously regulated by the government. They only allow well in the U.S they only allow encryption that they can break. This is what i use on my computers. it encrypts the full drive. upon startup or depending on the option you chose your asked for a key to unlock the drive. you can also set it up to need a encoded usb drive that you configure to be plugged in when typing the key. adds security

mr. rose... you build robots? final project for my IS degree i modified one of the roomba vaccum's. Not the most complicated thing but it came out pretty sweet.

Truecrypt , or other open source alternatives. PGP for email. Avoid any commercial or vendor packages. There have been some high profile cases of US encryption corporations providing back doors to the feds, which essentially means anyone could break into your private data. Trust not anything for sale.

The FBI, CIA nor any Police department do not have an algorithym for TrueCrypt, nor can they bruteforce it is the pass is long enough and complicated enough.

Even with super computers it would take hundres of years to bruteforce a pass thats 30-40 characters long and amixtures of upper, lower case, numbers and symbols. Not going to happen.

I agree to a point, like the article states though just the knowledge of a drive existing is enough imcriminating evidence for a conviction on said charges if they were suspected. For example if they knew you robbed a bank for 30 million dollars, hiding the money somewhere they can never find it doesn't mean you won't go to prison for doing it. The intent to hide evidence is evidence in itself. Unless true crypt has fixed this it seems nothing is full proof except a purge. Just my two cents.

truecrypt is great; It allows you to encrypt a volume within a volume. "There are many situations where you cannot refuse to reveal the password (for example, due to extortion). Using a so-called hidden volume allows you to solve such situations without revealing the password to your volume." From http://www.truecrypt.org

    Clear your internet history, cookies.

How can he snoop through your emails? Dont you have a password?

I dont think he can legally look at your emails anyhow, their yours and unless he has a VERY good reason for reading his employee's emails, he's breaking the law if your in the USA.
