this may or may not sound phsycotic but i was wondering if chewing sugar free gum was ok. I know it says sugar free on the pack but it says 1g of carbs on the back. So its like a sweetner i guess. Is it ok to have a few pieces throughout the day?

Sorbitol is not absorbed from the GI tract so it's not going to hurt you.
this is a great guesstion, i was just about to ask this myself because i want to stop smoking and gum may be my only salvation for a while.

Chewing sugarlesss gum sure as hell aint going to hurt you. Now, I wouldnt go chewing 2 or 3 packs a day but for me having a couple pieces throughout the day helps take the cravings away for other sweets.
Your also burning calories from chewing gum, not a hell of a lot, "don't put your cardio on hold over it".
I knew a guy who would chew the same piece of gum all day because of the calories that it burned. He would complain sometimes about his jaws getting sore. Who would have thought that would happen?Originally Posted by AdamK
I dont know bout u guys but to me carbs r carbs. I dont go for that absorbed story and try to be super strict when it comes to my diet. I know 1 gram isnt gonna hurt me but one gram here and one there will add up. To each there own but i aint going for it.

Fiber & Sugar Alcohols are some.... there are others as well. But the reason being is because the body does not use them the same as it does with other carbs.
