Brown rice vs. white rice and........

I heard that brown rice is supposed to be better for you than white rice, yet I checked the nutritional values and they're pretty much the same.

Also the same with wheat bread. I heard it's supposed to be better for you than white bread but their values are pretty much identical.

    What's the deal?

less processed, less refined, better digested for the body...all in all whole grains are less man made and more natural and are digested slower.

    word.

Just remember bro, all carbs are not created equal. Some carbs will do nothing for you, where other carbs will make a huge difference. It's all in knowing what kind of carbs are the good ones and where they come from.

That is exactally what I was going to say. Also, when enough fiber is consumed, its water-retaining property helps enlarge and soften the stool, easing elimination. Basically helping you to avoid long term problems like, hemorrhoids, diverticula, and diverticulosis. We Americans need a helluva lot more fiber than we're getting!

Any white grain products have been processed and bleached, i.e. white rice, white bread. They are simple carbs and have less nutritional value for bodybuilders. Brown rice n wheat bread are more natural like everyone said and complex carbs, like RockyX said, not all carbs are created equal. Natty stuff is better for you.

You'd be surprised to know their glycemic index is actually pretty close.

    I wouldn't go that far.

Soy is not a wise choice, again, just my preference. Utilize whatever materials you feel will assist you the best.

Yeah, it's a fact that not a lot of people know about, yet they swear by brown rice only.

Brown rice is still superior in the fiber category. Also the nutrients in brown rice are natural, but the nutrients in white rice are added by man, hence the term Enriched White Rice.

This is true. However, when I eat rice it's pwo when I want quick absorbing/digesting foods, so the addition of fiber or fibrous foods wouldn't be my first choice being that fiber slows digestion.

I also think brown rice tastes like (__!__) .
