I just joined the gym. However the times for me to go is at night, between
7-9PM. Just wondering on what to eat before and after?? I'll be doing cardio at home in the morning before I eat breakfast, but mainly hitting the weightsat night.

Before Workout: pro/carb
After Workout: whey isolate with dextrose
Before Bed: pro/fat
What is dextrose, and what does it do?Originally Posted by Aboot
Ideally, you want two carb/pro meals after working out, not pro/fat after consuming dextrose in the meal prior, which raises blood sugar like a bat out of h*ll. Remember, I said ideally.

Err, anyways, back to the question. It's the fastest acting (digested) simple sugar. You want to have quick acting carbs in your system along with quick acting protein as soon as possible after training.

I see, How much time would I need consume the Carb/Pro meaks after workout. And when you say two? do you mean two pro and two carbs? And for a pro drink with dextrose when should I take it, in the afternoon or after my cardio in the morning before breakfast?Originally Posted by SwoleCat
I was under the assumption you had read the dietary sticky posts atop the page. I'd begin there, as that will answer your questions in their entirety.

1.Postworkout Nutrition- I’m a firm believer that PWO nutrition is hands down the most important aspect of dieting. It is within the 15 minutes after a workout that your body is in dire need of nutrients. It is a completely anabolic state, and what you take in can be optimized to ensure maximum results. A general rule of thumb is 40-60 grams whey protein, and double the amount of whey in carbohydrates (50% dextrose/50% maltodextrin).
Cool, thanks for th info! But you mentioned not to take Dextrose that late at night?
Where did I say that?Originally Posted by MaidenOnslaught
