Most sources say bodybuilders should consume around 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. Does this mean one gram per pound of lean bodyweight or per pound of overall bodyweight?

Best thing to do is just experiment and see what ammounts help you reach whatever goal you are currently trying to attain.
I would have though more protien less carbs when cutting.
