Midnight protein shake ok?
I seem to be hungry at around midnight and just wondering if it would be okay to gobble down maybe a glass of milk or some protein shake and go right back to bed. This would be a low carb shake of course. What do you think?

If it is low carb then I do not see anything wrong with it. It is alot better than any other alternatives that might be in the fridge.

Try water instead of milk. Milk still has saturated fat, and 12 grms of carbs per cup that will be stored as fat at that time. Go for water

I do the low carb protien stuff at night because it not only quenches my thirst it satisfies my hunger. I figure its my body's way of telling me it need more protien. Think so?

Another possibility . . .
As an alternative, you can also eat a low-carb/fat/sugar protein bar. If it's late at night, I'd recommend something like the EAS Carb Control bars because they are low in everything, and not packed with quite as much protein as the Met Rx and larger bars. Satisfying, but not too much for late at night.
(The EAS bars are now available at Wal-Mart stores, but make sure you get the Carb Control version, not the standard EAS bars that are higher in sugars.)

i'd be very wary of bars, especially at night. i don't know if u read that article about glycerine. its one of the main ingredients in about 99% of the bars, and cause it doesnt affect insulin spike, it doesnt have to be included in carb count on the calorie list at the back of the packaging. BUT, it has like 4.1 calories/gram, which unused will be stored as fat, just like carbs. i think protein shake is the way to go
