well, the more u drink, the more hydrated is your body so it doesnt need to retain water, so u should lose water weight (up to a point though, it wont help drinking 5 gallons of water a day), also cut out as much salt from your diet as possible - this is the main water absorber
Low carb diets are infamous for making you lose water weight too. I had a condition several months back where even though I was drinking 2-3 gallons of water a day, I was dehydrating resulting in severe leg cramps. It was the leg cramps that eventually led me to the connection between low carb and water retention.
If there is anyone out there who sufferes from the same problem, it is easily corrected by taking in more salt calcium and magnesium.
So, the ingestion of water only means hydration if your body can retain it.
