The reason why is,fruit juices are not high enough on the glycemic scale. You'll need Dextrose to get the proper Insulin spike required to drive the protiens and nutrients into your muscle cells.

80g Dextrose/40g Whey is a good starting point.

Ok....but do any of you subscribe by the theory of starting it half way through your session instead of after?

That's a debate in itself. Some like to sip a shake all the way through a training session.Myself I like the Insulin spike proceeding a training session.I feel the uptake is far more substancial.Like I said earlier, you'll get ppl on both sides the fence on that question.

I see no reason at ALL to drink ANY part of a POST workout shake while you should be lifting. I always drink water as do those I assist.

You know, they call it a POST workout shake for a reason.

I couldn't agree more!I also don't subscribe to drinking a shake immediately before training as is highly tauted in muscle mags. You also see ppl saying to drink a creatine/protien drink right before training as well. Why create an unneccessary insulin spike at this time?Who wants to "crash" while training?
I've always believed eating a meal 1 1/2-2 hrs prior to training is the way to approach this. The fat burning effects are greater on this approach, plus when consuming your PWO shake, your body will be primed to soak up all the nutrients you are supplying it.

What's your thoughts on this SC?
