I made a batch of Tobey's protein bars..
Made that first protein bar recipe:
4 egg whites, 1/4 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup unsw apple sauce, 2 scoops protein powder, 1 tbsp nat. PB, and 1/4 tsp van. extr.
mix, pour into 8x8 pan, bake at 350 for 20 min.
Came out pretty good, but the nutritional info was WAY different with what I used. Here were my ingreds:
12 tbsp Egg "Allwhites" (from Pepetti foods)
1/4 cup Quaker oats
1/2 cup Motts natural unsw applesauce
1 tbsp natural PB (I use pure PB made from nothing but unsalted peanuts ground at the health food store)
1/4 tsp. Van extr.
2 large scoops Optimum Pro Complex choc. flavor
When cut into 9 bars, the stats look like this (per bar):
Cals: 75; Prot: 10g; Carbs: 5g (Sug 2g); Fat: 2g (.5gsat)
Eat 3 of em and youve got the equivalent stats of most of the commercial bars, but with much fewer cals, better quality protein (in most cases), only 15g of slow burning low GI carbs, and 4g of mainly good fats from the PB.
Pretty nice IMO. Thanks for the recipe Tobey!
