'06 Cut Diet (what do you think?)

Here is what i have been doing for the new year to cut weight and I am now down 13lbs.

8 a.m protein shake and oatmeal w/ peanut butter

11 a.m 4 egg whites and an egg omlette w/ cheese.

    2p.m 8oz. chicken and rice.

    5p.m oatmeal w/ peanutbutter

    7:30 workout

9:30 8oz. chicken and rice and protein shake.

midnight casein protein shake and then sleep.

i do atleast 30 min cardio 4-5 times a week after workout and on off days.

I am getting around 2500 cals and 225-250g protein a day

Not bad overall. I'm a little concerned with your combination of oatmeal and peanut butter for a cutting diet. Combining fat (peanut butter) and carbs (oatmeal) in the same meal has a synergistic effect on bodyfat production. So, you'll probably want to find a substitute for the PB in your 5pm meal. Replace it with some better protein.

Also, where is your post-workout nutrition? You should have some fast acting protein and carbs right after you work out.

    Peace,

    The Bad Man

OH, and cardio after lifting is less than ideal.

The chicken and rice w/ protein shake is right after i workout. I cook the meal beforehand and reheat it as soon as I get home. I might cut out the pb and put a scoop of whey (chocolate) in my oats or if you can suggest a better carb source for one of my oatmeal meals that would be great. I mainly put the pb in for flavor. why is cardio bad after lifting

its not so much that its bad, its more that it is less than ideal. to achieve the best fat loss prebreakfast is best.

also, if i read that right are you doing an oatmeal pb as something like a carb up before workout?

Chicken and rice are slow acting. You want something fast-acting to cram in all the ggodness during the short window that is open after your workout (I know I'm not using technical-speak. I'm still waking up).

Try protein powder mixed with dextrose instead.

A 2:1 ratio protein- carbs is suggested. So if you have 50g of protein you'd want ~100g carbs. If you are really concerned about cutting you can get away with lowering it. I've been going 50g prot with about 75 g carbs- in the form of dextrose. It's a little under half a cup.

if you find dextrose too sweet you can also use maltodextrin instead. sometimes 80 grams of sugar just kills me

I would not space out 3 hours between meals. You will hear varying things on this. But when cutting I like to eat small meals frequently that way I am never hungry and constantly keeping my metabolism going. This might be good for the first few weeks. But when crunch time comes I would suggest an hour and a half between meals. Are you competing, because that too is way more for if you are competing

i have to space it out like that. I have class. I will probably take less dextrose or try the MaltoD. I hate sugar. I don't eat sweets or soda
