    Carbs and fats together?

isnt the only reason u dont eat them together is when the carb is high gi? everyone talks about the dex/pro shake for pwo and how it spikes your insulin to "shuttle" whatever else u eat with it, in this case whey protein, to your body for absorption. so the rest of the day when i am eating whole wheat bread and oats my body should not necessarily be in the mood to absorb fats would it? so it should be ok to incorporate some good fats into the meal? i guess what im asking is...can i combine carbs and fats in a meal (w/pro of course) if the carbs are whole, unrefined complex carbs? if i do so should i keep the carbs below about 60g per meal? whats your opinion?

no posts so i'll share my opinion...
i would believe it would be ok, you separate to avoid the insulin spike that stores fat.
i personally like my oatmeal with salmon filets in the morning. i dont physically mix them but i eat them together. sounds gross but i like it. so i do it yes, but i am bulking and i try and separate and eat clean. but i would think you are ok.

bump-I'm also interested-I never used to think about mixing carbs and fats until I started hanging out in this forum. I used to have carb/fat/pro in every meal except before bed. I am naturally on the thin side though.

depends on goals, I think as long as you are in a caloric deficit you can mix good fats like peanut butter, and good carbs like oats. I did this one time before I even knew anything about seperating carbs and fats and got pretty lean doin a good bit of cardio and weights. If you wanna get super shreaded I would probably avoid it, but I know plenty of people with good abbs that eat pretty clean, but mix carbs and fats. Hope this helps.
