    Cool Help with appetite!!

I am currently eating 5 meals a day, starting at 8 am and eating every 2.5 hours or so. My big problem I is that at night around 9-10 I start getting hungry, and its hard to resisit eating, I sometimes will eat crackers and drink water to help, but I need help how I can stop this, I don't want crackers turning into something worse. Is 5 meals enough or should I increase ? Or should I space apart? And if I a going to snack lightly to quell my hunger, what are the best things to eat? Thanks for the help.

if you are trying to cut, i wouldn't eat crackers late at night. Most crackers are high GI, and you don't want an insulin spike late at night. Try hard boiled eggs or low-fat cottage cheese. These are good snacks and appetite quenchers. A large glass of cold water can also cut the appetite.

breakfast is usually oatmeal or special K (the new high protein/high fiber one), snack#1 is usually a bannana (more fiber), lunch is usually a chicken wrap/or a kind of sandwhich, snack#2 is either more fruit or a protein shake, and dinner is a meat either grilled chicken/steak, a cup of rice, and maybe some vegetables or a salad. I am alos aiming to keep taking in a galon of water a day. Also, can you explain what "high GI" is and explain the concept of an insulin spike and why its bad, i have a vague idea. Thanks for the help.

glyciemic index is how much a food will spike your blood sugar (insulin). the higher the GI, the higher you will spike your insulin - and therefore the more you will "come down" when the spike is over. I don't know any of the medical explanation of it, but i DO know that when your blood sugar is elevated, you have a higher chance of storing food as fat. I suggest you get some flax oil in your diet for starters, eliminate carbs after say 3:00 in the afternoon, unless you are working out in the afternoon. Also, make your 5 meals 6. So before you go to bed have some solid protein like some egg whites and tuna.

HOpe i helped a bit, good luck.

I would reccomend eating fat free cottage cheese, or a whey and flax shake. If you have a whey and flax shake right before bed, this may hold you over until the a/m. I find that the flax slows the digestion down of the whey and will get me through the night.
