    Insulin spikes.........

Correct me if Im wrong but, an insulin spike is caused by fast acting carbs like sugars and when insulin spikes, your body basically absorbs more nutrients that are in your system, which can be bad or good.

Im just trying to figure out more about insulin and how it works etc. Not exegenoeus (Did I spell that right) insulin ie injections but, just from diet.

Can anyone explain this to me a little better or give me some info?

I dont think Im gonna use any kind of milk now, or at least not as much, because of what I have learned about insulin spikes.

    Ill chime in...

Insulin's good properties are that it shuttles carbs and aminos to muscle's.

The bad thing is that if you eat a quick absorbing carb your blood sugar goes up to fast. This rise in blood sugar is differnt in everyone as some people get small sugar spikes while some get very large spikes from same amount of carb. This is caused by how much room you have left to store more carbs and also how efficient your muscle cells respond to the insulin.

if you are one to get high sugar spikes, your body compensates by dumping all the sugar into fat stores. It does this since a high sugar blood content is bad for your body. This causes fat gain of course but also causes you to suffer weakness due to your muscles not being filled with energy.

Right after a workout though your body is primed to absorb carbs and so a sugary food is welcome.Bear in mind though that we each still absorb carbs at different rates even in this prime PWO state.

EDIT....milk is very very low glycemic so causes a low insulin spike.

But it also contains saturated fat, so isnt it a bad idea to spike insulin with sat fat in your system even though its only a smaller spike?

Spiking insulin with any fat is bad as it causes that fat to be stored right away instead of being used to build hormones and for energy.

I was talking about skim milk as I dont believe its a bad food. Many here will say it makes you hold water and I agree but when your fat like me what does it matter

Slin is also the body's most potent anabolic hormone in the body, more so than test, and hgh. Typically most people follow the basic of

    1. consuming complex/high fiber foods throughout the day except PWO

    2. seperating fat from cho meals due to insulins lypogenic effect as well.

As far as milk I have recently been on a cutting diet/cardio plan and one of the things I did was eliminate all dairy except for cheese and about 8 oz of soy milk first thing in the morining.

However Ive heard that a large spike in protein can also cause inslin spike as well, anyone else heard this?

An awesome book to read is NATURAL HORMONE ENHANCEMENT by Rob Fagin.

You will be hard pressed to convince anyone you can gain more with slin than you can test.

I see that thrown around and wonder where it came from.Arent processed sugars carbs that are broken down too much like table sugar or dex.

Milk sugar is very low glycemic and so its actually good for a pro/carb meal if your cramming calories I would guess.I see people's point about wanting food instead of liquids while cutting.

Milk contains lactose, which is not a processed sugar at all. Matter a fact its very unprocessed.
