AS gains just with pro/carb shakes
was talking to a mate in the gym who is on AS, same as i am, i follow my diet to the T, i never miss a meal.
he has a very busy job and is trying to bulk, sometimes he doesnt get chance to eat a proper meal, he swears by trying to drink 5-6 multi shakes a day (containing all the carbs/pro & cals he needs) just in case he doesnt get chance to eat his meals. he's made some good gains but i feel that he could do better eating a proper diet while on AS.
is he ok doing it this way, is he likely to still make gains ?Last edited by nobbythedonkey; 05-07-2006 at 01:31 PM.

5-6 is way overkill...u need solid foods in there...he should pack food and put it somewere...i usually have 3....1 with breakfast, 1 pwo, 1 with last meal...

there are very few disadvantages with liquids over solids with TEF and digestion being the two main ones
its more the content of the shakes thats the issue and the exclusion of essential nutrients

The quick absorption is the biggest problem. A consistent source of food is needed to make gains.

I belong to the minority that has no problem at all relying alot on shakes. Right now I only get 2 solid meals a day and the rest is shakes. Sometimes 3 solid meals.
Aslong as he gets enough fibers, minerals and vitamins I think it works.
Would be do better with "real" food? Possibly.
Is shakes a good solution when there is little time? Defenetly!!

Nothing replaces solid food, period.
That is why the shakes are considered "supplements".
Don't let anyone tell you different.
