    Chocolate Milk Post-Lift

So I'm from Buffalo, NY, the home home the greatest football team in the land the Buffalo Bills, I wish I could say that and be serious, haha...Anyways I know one of the trainers for the bills and supposedly all of the bills right now are just pounding chocolate milk after they are done working out...I guess a new study out of some university, like Johns Hopkins or something, has claimed that chocolate milk post workout is one of the best things for your body in the anabolic state...anyone heard this???

THis is what I've heard about Chocolate Millk.. this milk is made chocolate because of discolorations cause from udder blood.. thus they have to change the colour to hide the "flaw". Disgusting.. I know. I'm full of gross tid bit info like that. But sorry, otherwise I know nothing.

Definately not the "newest thing". People have been using milk and choc milk as PWO for some time now (I believe Johan uses milk/bannana for PWO). Like wolfey said, there are better alternatives IMO. I prefer a low GI carb source, and dex only when I'm on the run or for slin administration. But, to each his own.

Some brands of chocolate milk have a distinct copper/metalic taste to them. Hmmm

Seriously, I've been around dairy farms. She's absolutely right.

I use chocolate milk all the time. I just make sure I use the Chocolate powder and not the syrup which is full of HFCS.

    Damn good stuff.

I remember talking about choclate milk a couple of years ago in a class I had. The teacher was so against it b/c he said that there were huge Vats where they hold the milk. The older milk was turned into the chocolate milk to cover up any discoloration.

I remember him also stating that Milk is cows blood with the hemoglobin. I never really looked into it but that piece of info really stuck out in my brain.

the only problem i have with using just milk as your protein source after a workout is you want something that is fast absorbing to replenish the muscles. the protein found in milk is pretty slow digesting as most of it is casein protein. due to this fact, i prefer to use whey protein pwo.

For htis reason, I'll use Whey shake first. Chocolate milk second.

what about plain skim milk? is the chocolate just for more flavor? i mean when u say you can take some whey and then some "chocolate milk" afterwards, can i replace it with just skim milk and it be the same dang thang?

I'd assume it's the same concept minus the added sugar from the chocolate flavoring, (ingesting milk), but I'm not 100% sure because I don't do this myself.

like swole said, you'd be losing those extra sugars from the chocolate, which would be very important pwo. milk itself would only have the lactose for carbs, which some people don't even digest very well. you'd also need to drink a lot of milk to get any kind of decent amounts of carbs for pwo from them.
