I bought a giant can of yams in light syrup. Lasts me about 5 days. Are these ok to eat? How are they different from whole sweet potatos.
thx in advance

i had to learn the hard way myself when i was supposed to be cooking a sweet potatoe pie for thanksgiving. i made yam pie instead thinking they were the same till someone told me they werent, had to add about a lb of brown sugar for it to taste good lol.
I had no idea yams and sweet potatos were different... maybe because all I've ever had is sweet potatos and I just thought yams were a way of preparing them. Learn something new everyday here at AR!
edit: sugar free syrup on a baked sweet potato is the shiznit
hmm...thinking bout making a sweet potato pie for work tomorrow now... or maybe candied yams mmmmmmmmmm
i thought yams were the veggie name, and sweet potatos are what they are called after adding brown sugar, syrup, all that..i've seen marshmallow in them too! haha now that is a sweet potato!
Yams in syrup = may as well eat sweet potato pie.
