    oats for blending (shake)?

well i'm just looking for some oats to blend up into a shake with some whey protein. just wondering if since i won't be cooking it, do i need to get a certain kind, or will pretty much any kind be fully digestable after being blended? thanks.

They are pretty much all the same. The "quick" oats seem like they would be easier to grind as they are already broken down quite a bit.

alright, got some organic whole grain oat flour. figured this will be as fine as i can get, and since the GI should remain the same, i think i'm good to go. gonna try water, whey protein, and the oat flour and see if i can choke it down.

ha... yeah i called quaker once a while back to ask the beez working if the oats would be digested w/out cooking... she said it was a common question and yes they would be digested w/out cooking.

well, made the shake, and it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. it tastes almost like it's dry. i know that sounds weird since it's a liquid shake, but it has kind of a chalky texture. it goes down alright though, and feels like cement in my stomach as it does. but, it's much better than the high GI cytogainer, so it will do. thanks for all the help guys.

I do this all the time but it makes a BIG difference if you grind the oats. I do it in a coffee grinder and it comes out in a fine powerder that mixes just like the protein powder and is very easy to get down

i guess you missed the part where i said what kind of oats i was using, but i found "organic whole grain oat flour", which is as fine as you can get. i appreciate the advice though.

yea, like you said it wasn't that hard to get down, just has a chalky texture to it. doesn't taste horrible, just kind of bland. could definitely be worse.
