many believe that raw eggwhites cannot be digested by the body. so i would just cook them.

Cooking them makes them more bio-available to the body.
That would make me want to cook them, aside from not liking to drink snot.

raw eggs = low bioavailability
cooked eggs = high bioavailability
raw pasteurized eggs = high bioavailability
cooked pasteurized eggs = low bioavailability
so, if they're regular eggs, cook em. if you really want eggs to eat raw in a shake or whatever have you, get the pasteurized kind.

Why are the pasteurized eggs higher when taken raw?

Yeah, I believe you can drink them if they are pasteurized...I'm also interested in that. I've been cooking pasteurized eggs for God knows how long..

if you're gonna cook them, stick with the regular eggs, not pasteurized.

i believe it's because the pasteurization process is basically a cooking process done at a low temperature but in a way that completely eliminates the harmful bacteria. since it's already in a sense cooked, the avidin in the egg is destroyed, eliminating the limiting factor in it's bio-availability.
further cooking of these eggs would therefore in a sense be overcooking the protein in it. for those who don't know, though cooking to some extent can increase the bio-availability of some foods, overcooking can dramatically decrease the bio-availability.

look i stated before
egg whites have a high affinity for bioitin which means they bind to it and prevent your body form absorbint and can make ur body depleted of biotin VERY FAST
plus like sc said BA sux in uncooked eggwhites
if u do them raw eat the whole egg.. 2-5 eggs in a shake bu tnot the white alone u need the 25mcg of biotin per yolk to off set the binding affinity of whites

Why would you NOT want to cook them?

That is good to hear. I get the pasturized eggs fairly cheap. I quit adding them to my morning shake cause I thought that it wasn't worth it. I am rethinking that one now. Thanks for that piece of information.

my roommate drank some of our liquid eggwhites, and he broke out all over his back in hives for about 2 hours, but that might just be him, was enough to make me not do it though
