Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke
Man...I wish Coke didn't invent this stuff. I'm now going to have a hard time reaching my water intake with how good this stuff tastes! jk. If you haven't tried it, try it.

I guess she's pointing out the fact that coke contains caffeine, which is a diuretic. That means you'll piss all the water you're taking, and u'll need to up your water intake in order to maintain your goals.
Try Fanta light (the apple/lemon one), its only 42 kcal/1.5 liters bottle, with 6 gr of carbs (not sugar btw).

Well one thing diet soda have artificial sweeteners.

i was just wondering girl, no rudeness at all if u were assuming any. i just think if you need the diet to soften a sweet tooth then i would use it over regular coke any day. there is also s/f jello, and other s/f items that i would use opposed to their sugar/ HFCS filled counter parts. yeah artificial sweeteners have been questioned, but you can't live in a bubble. and i remember discussing how you would need a huge load of the stuff to experience the fist bit of negative effects. i would just use them all very sparingly, since long-term effects are unknown at this point.

Take off the gloves guys, I'm just saying this stuff taste great to have some every once in a while. I'm not really replacing it with water....

Actually, never mind.
If ya don't want to consume artificial sweeteners, don't. If you do, then do.
This is like kindergarten nutrition here.
I drink diet soda, crystal light, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, coffee with splenda, etc.
I guess I'm gonna die soon, oh the stress......

It's just a very over-blown/over analyzed issue.
Just like one day eggs are horrible for you, the next day they are great and the cholesterol is of no concern.
One day this, one day that.
Just do as you wish and that's all that can really be said.
Now, where's my diet Dr. Pepper.....

Diet sodas have higher phosphates therefore is not good for your body. Because it interfere with your body absorption of calcium you consume. ( Calcium deficiency)
Is low carb and low calories but it have higher phosphates and have artificial sweeteners ( called aspartame) that is link to High BP and other health problems.
Is not bad for you if you drink it in moderation. Well just sharing my though, I dont want anyone bashing me because I am anti-sodas/caffeine beverages.Last edited by fatale; 06-17-2006 at 08:21 PM.

many of you guys in here probably know of my stance on artificial sweeteners, but for those who don't, here we go...
other than a select few natural calorie-free sweeteners, i'm not big on the artificial stuff, primarily aspartame with splenda coming in at a close second. yes, many people today blow off the health concerns. then again, look at how long the general public thought cigarettes were safe for till the truth came out.
i know it's still a matter of debate, but i've seen tons of studies indicating all the harmfull effects it has. even the fda themselves will admit their animal testing showed numerous negative health effects on the animals. i know, i called them and they admitted it and ran around in a circle trying to justify why it still made it to the market.
another issue is how many people are calling into the fda a year about health concerns related to aspartame. the fda keeps blowing them off, saying there are no "consistent symptoms being recognized", but they will however admit to receiving numerous complaints each year. regardless of the truth behind that matter, i've even heard of personal accounts of people having had numerous kinds of health ailments which were aleviated after discontinuing the aspartame.
if you want to drink it, go for it, but i personally strongly advise against it. then again, my dads been smoking since he was a teen, smokes at least a pack a day, and he's still alive and kicking. so, the aspartame may do absolutely nothing to you for a very long time. however, i don't think it's worth the risk.
there are only a few things i intentionally go out of my way to avoid in foods. one is msg, the other trans-fats, the other aspartame. as far as other health concerns, as others have said, i can't live my life in a bubble. however, when there is as much controversial health concerns about food additives as there are with those 3, you won't see me touching them or advising anyone else to do the same. just trying to look out for you guys but if you disagree with my remarks regarding aspartame, remember, this is just my personal opinions based on my research on those additives.

Yeah, cool brutha, we all make our own decisions so it's no biggie.
I know that MSG gives me MASSIVE headaches, so when I order Chinese food (once in a blue moon) I specifically say NO MSG.

I'd rather consume any of the 'artificial' and low calorie sweeteners than massive amounts of table sugar, corn syrup etc.
