if you go in the morning on an empty stomach you need to go at about 60-70% of your MHR. find this by taking 220 - your age * .60 (if you are going at 60%. if you don't have a way to monitor that go at a pace at which you could carry on a conversation pretty well. but you would struggle to sing a song. (find some middle ground). and sprinting is good, but in the morning on empty is only a sure way to lose muscle. go in teh evening about 1.5 hours after eating for a better fat burning environment with sprints.

i like doing intervals on the treadmill for about 30-45min. tops... seems to work pretty well for me
For lipolysis (using stored fat for fuel) 65-75% of your MHR for 40-45 minutes works very well.
