I would want more protein from food sources and less from the shakes. Guess it depends on how much time you have ect.

agreed, if at all possible limit the shakes to 1-2 daily. your body will get more key nutrients from whole foods.

Hey guys thanks for the posts I hear what you're saying, protein wise, basically my fear is that by eating more whole foods, say egg whites, chicken breast in place of the whey, I'm increasing my total calories beyond a reasonable amount for me whilst 'cutting'. Normally I would eat a huge variety of whole foods, however in my experience as an endomorph (and perphaps there is a psycholgical element here too) I have found that if I can count my cals to an exact amount, which is easy with these food types I am able to loose more body fat then otherwise...I am always open to better ways of course...and I may be wrong so any suggestions are welcome...
I guess my main question is, would it be 'ok' to cut on these limited foods for a standard 12 week cutting period, and then return to eating a wider variety of foods???

persona;;y i cant see the difference between working out your calories using whole foods rather than shakes. i think that just sounds lazy.

yes you can cut on limited foods. find a carb source that works best for you in terms of bloating, but helps you feel full. by the way, whole foods are my choice while cutting because 1. they provide a better thermogenic effect over that of liquid, and 2. because they keep me fuller longer which is one of my biggest obstacles while cutting. find a few good protein choices and a solid fat source and you can cut on that for sure! good luck bro!

novastepp- Hey champ thanks for the reply. Thats true I forgot about that, whole foods=raising the metabolism...you know maybe I should pull out the diet scales and start up the portions of whole protein sources.
Would you guys recomend chicken breast, egg whites, maybe a lean beef...any others I'm forgetting???

novastepp- Thanks dude, do you work out the macros for your protein sources or do you basically eat as mush as you can or go by portion size???

oh i work them out. i go by my LBM or what i assume it to be ( a good guess). you can get close by getting your bf% calculated. and then i divide up how many grams i want by my ratio. so if i need 1000 cals a day and i want 40% of that to be protein i would take 100g (400cals) and divide it into my meals.

40% of 1000 cals is 400 cals of protein not grams its more like a 100 grams of protein 1 g protein or carb = 4.5cals 1g fat = 9 cals.. you might have jsut written it wrong if so nvm
