I hate idiots
I was talking to this guy who is apparently "cutting". First off, he's 5'10" 160 lbs. and cutting. Why he's cutting is beyond me, but thats beyond the fact. he insists that his "Very active lifestyle" of doing cardio twice a day and sitting at a desk all day demands that his body takes in at least 2,000 calories a day. His cardio consists of walking on the treadmill for 30 mins. and he does that twice a day. Anyhow, I told him that his lifestyle isn't so strenuous and that he should switch things up. Maybe do intense cardio once a day (like HIIT or something) and do that 3-4x a week. I also recommend that he drop his calorie intake to around 1500 while keeping protein high if he maintains doing his "cardio" twice a day and sitting at a desk. So, after a bit of arguing, he finds people to back him up and sure enough they do stating that "no male should EVER go below 1800 calories a day". I just left right there and let him be. No wonder why he's only lost 2 lbs. over the last 3 weeks...

1500 is kind of low bro.
I dont recommend below 2000 clean, for a male.
at 2500 hundred a day and cardio 3 times a week in the morning for 30 mins, and my normal lifting 3 day split. I was losing 3 pounds a week. i stopped at 4 weeks, it started to deplete my muscle. I was down to 165 at 5'10" 33 years old.Last edited by Kristofer68ss; 07-18-2006 at 06:46 PM.

yeah bro, i gotta say that back in the day when i'd dip below 2,000 i really didn't lose anything but muscle. Even if he is 160 i'd have to agree with him that he should be 2k or over

Dont mean to be a d1ck but the reason why he wants to cut- is his choice.. everybody has their own goals.. not everywants wants to be huge or take the bodybuilding route.. I dont see how that makes him an idiot. He may not need to do cardio 2 times per day, but i dont see how that makes him an idiot.. Also I dont see how him eating 2000 cals a day makes him an idiot..

This thread is a joke forsure. I'll cut with 3,000 cals a day. I'm pretty sure I'd wither away into thin air at 1500 cals a day with a HIIT routine.

I see where you guys are coming from and by no means am I the idiot here. I know what I'm talking about. Maybe the 1500 calorie intake is a little low, but when he asked "how do i lose weight quickly?" I reponded so by giving him some worthy advice. If he asked, "how do I lose fat, but spare muscle over time?" I wouldn't have told him to go as low as 1500. I guess you had to be there to fully understand.

asking why he is cutting at 5'10" 160lbs is the only thing you got right, but that his choice. at 1500 cals most people would be way to catabolic and would lose tons of muscle. i cut with 2400-2600cals no problem. and yes this thread is a joke, no offense.

what is your physique like doctor of diet? stats? what is wrong with walking for 30 mins twice a day? my cardio is walking once a day 30-45 mins it keeps me right around 65% of my heartrate. im not positive but isnt that exactly what kind of cardio a person should do? you should probably follow the guys diet and exersize routines instead of your own. idiot

That 160lb twig is just gonna end of being a smaller, still soft version of himself. He might have a little abs poke through when he is ~ 150-155lbs but thats when you should walk up , pat him on the back and congratulate him: "Congrats! You are skinny!"
