    PWO shake vs. breakfast after AM cardio?

    I am in the process of creating a diet for implementation when I get back from my study abroad. I understand the importance of PWO nutrition, especially the ratio of protein to carbs in order to flood muscle with much needed nutrients. However, I am unsure how I want to address this in my diet. Should I:

    1.) Do my AM cardio (45min walk at 70% hr), then drink my PWO shake, then go to class and after have a solid meal

    OR

    2.) Should I do my cardio and then eat a solid breakfast before class?

    Thanks guys. I have been actively researching these threads for the past 2 weeks and learned so much... I appreciate everything!

    I think a lot of new guys are getting the wrong idea. There is NO NEED for a PWO shake after cardio. You only will need a PWO shake/meal of some kind after training with weights. In that case..option 2.

    Unless your running...training for a marathon, like chest said, no need for PWO after cardio.

    Thanks, that makes sense. I just finished my diet and will post it in the next hour!

    The dextrose/simple sugar is used to replenish glycogen stores that have been broken down by resistance training (weights). No need for simple sugars after cardio.
