    CLEAN Carb Source!

What would you view as a better/cleaner carb source:

Oats or 100% Ezekiel whole wheat pasta?

Right now those are my sole carb sources, aside from dextrose and rice cakes, oh a fiberous veggies. If I switch my 3rd meal to oats instead of pasta, I'll be taking in close to 3-4 cups a day, but that would be all my carbs. Is there a big difference? Both very clean? Thoughts?

columbus, when you add carbs to a protein source as long as it is a low GI source it isn't going to matter at all. what does matter is RESULTS. are you getting any from that proposed diet? if you want to eat justr oats go ahead. but if you aren't producing results...then... switch things up. so how long have you been using that diet?

My primary source of carbs comes from oats and I've been gaining pretty steadily. Been doing this for a few months now. I'd say oats are just fine so long as the rest of your diet is in check.

The only carbs I consume are potatoes, yams, oats, banana's and sometimes whole wheat pasta. The whole wheat pasta is more a treat for me though. Most meals have a yam or potatoe in them.

Listed in order of preference, yams, whole oats, brown rice, very rarely whole wheat pasta, sometime waxy maize for a quick carb intake PWO, otherwise Dex PWO.....and I'm thinking along the same lines as Spy....Looks like a tad more fats wouldn't hurt (5% or so)

IMO you could try switching meal 5 to a pro/carb, I get more energy with pro/carb as a pre workout meal, but that's up 2 you.. some do pro/fat with good results also.

    I feel I get more energy from pro/fat preworkout...plus, no insulin rush./crash

Why do so many refrain from ww pasta? Excellent source of carbs, plus its only 4oz cooked.....it would be comparable to oats and yams, don't you agree? Cutting or bulking, no difference.

Do you feel you et more blurry or hold more water when you eat ww pasta vs other carbs or is it because it's a pain to cook and transport? Wy would it be a "treat"?

For me, whole wheat pasta just gives me a bloated feeling that I don't get from brown rice, whole oats, and yams. I'm not knocking it's nutritional values, hell, I have a box in the kitchen. I just use it sparingly.
Use what works for you, you seem to have the a decent understanding of macro intake, although I would consider bumping up the fats just a tad...

    Good luck,

i would tell you to just try eating sweet potatoes or whole oats in place of your whole wheat pasta and gauge how you feel. if you feel better with the pasta, stick with it. like i said, when you mix it with a lean protein source the GI will hardly matter. it will all matter on how it works for you.

    seriously though. they look good.

beef. to build beef you should be eating beef. add flax to any protein source to make a pro/fat meal. you can go full fat cottage cheese, salmon, peanut butter and turkey. tuna and almonds. chicken and almonds. possibilities are endless. use flax at home and almonds can be your portable fat source. enjoy the natty PB before bed.

thouhg tyou were concerned about carbs? carbs will help you achive results more tyan you know. do not fear them.

you can also look at my bulking diet. i will find it and post the link for you.
