    Need Specifics on Fibre

Hey Guys... so we all know fibre is an essential part of any diet, and awesome for those who are trying to lose weight etc.

I've recently heard that if you load up on fibre, double your daily intake, by noon, your body won't absorb any nutrients you consume after that. Is this true? And even if you don't double up, does fibre prevent you from absorbing foods later in the day?

I'm not asking this because i want to eat crap... I like my Orange, sugar free metamucil in the morning...kinda like my breakfast orange juice..,.lol. However, I know that it's important for my body gets what it's supposed to out of what I'm eating and when I"m eating it.. as per usual.

I'm also taking it later in the day, about two hours before bed... yes, I'm paranoid about colon cancer and not getting enough fibre as my diet doesn't include a lot of it, but I also just really like the damn drink..lol.

Clearly it causes an nice soft, ... er, production. Sometimes very soft. Is this unabsorbed nutrients?

Thanks guys, I did a search but couldn't find quite the answers I was looking for.

    Cheers!
    K

I smell bullshit on whatever you heard. Doesn't make much sense to me, but than again, I failed Food Science twice haha. In all honesty, I think you're fine with your intake.

Your diet is fine. I asked a R.N. about the fiber & absorbtion & she just laughed!!! You will STILL absorb nutrients.

One thing I never understood was; does fiber actually contribute to fat loss or just help you lose weight by an elaxative affect? I know I eat plenty of brocoli so would a fiber sup still help with any bloating/fat loss?

good q Stone... kinda what I was wondering too.... i know it's not exactly a laxative but does it act in a simlar way? Hmmm....

I find after I drink it I'm really full and a bit bloated, bu tthat goes away pretty fast... hard to eat for a while though..

some things can absorb fat so it doesnt get absorbed by the body and I think I have heard some fibers can do this(dont quote me on it). But it realy isnt a big effect so wont make a difference.

But fibers are so healthy you should consume lots of them anyway
