    Massive Weight Loss

I am new here, and hopefuly I can get some assistance from some of you guys. I am 29 yers old about 5'11" and I weigh 375. I have always been "naturally" strong, but have never worked out steady for more than 6 months at a time. My problem is obviously, my weight.

About a year ago, I was put on Lexapro for my anger issues. I have never done steroids in my life, but my younger brother, who is a bodybuilder, and juices regularly, says that my natural rage was worse than any roid rage he had ever seen. Believe me, I am not bragging. I almost lost everything I care about due to my anger issues which is why I was put on the drug.

In one years time I gained over 100 pounds as a side affect to this drug. I have never been a slim person by any means, but have always had a very good percentage of muscle. Now I have put all of this extra fat on, and it is making things very difficult for me and my entire family. I do appologize for the length of this post, but I thought, who better to ask then the people who eat, breath, and sleep fitness. So I ask any of you, could you please post up ideas.

My brother suggested maybe using clenbuteral or winstral? to help aid with my weight loss, but I cannot afford to take anything that will alter my already sedated mood. I am not opposed to taking something combined with a strict diet, but I need help from you guys.

Thank you in advance for all your help,
    Lenny

Well for 1, welcome to AR!
2nd thing...AAS is NOT the answer for weight loss!!
Read the cutting sticky and make a cutting diet based off the sticky.
    Post a pic.
    What are your goals?
Diet and cardio are KEY to losing the weight.

    Let's start there.

Welcome to ar bro! You will find all the positive feedback you need here. I agree, AAS are not for you, neither is clenbuterol yet. The cutting sticky should give you a good template to start with.

do you work out? Have any physical hobby that you love to do? The key to changing your life is to find healthy hobbies along with lifting that you can do

Thank you for all of your input. I do agree that my diet is probably the biggest problem. I am trying to fit in as many activities into my life as I can, but my schedule is filling rather quickly. I own my own business, which fortunately is very successful, but on the downside it occupies alot of my time. I also have 3 kids that fill up alot of my "spare time". Believe me, I am not making excuses, and deffinately want to change things. I have read the cutting sticky, and my question is how do I plan a diet to not just cut, but to drop a massive amount of weight. My target weight is 230, and I know I can get to there, I just need an idea as far as how many meals a day I should be eating, my calorie intake, etc.. Like I said in my original post, I have some physical issues right now which are preventing me from doing alot of exercise, so I need to get some of this weight off first before I can start to hit the gym and cardio hard again. BTW, when I say physical issues, they include: 2 herniated discs, a hyperextended knee (mainly due to the weight), high blood pressure, and chronic migraine headaches (brought on by the Lexapro). Please understand, that I am in no way trying to make excuses to get out of doing physical activities, but until I can get my weight down a little, it makes it pretty hard to do alot. Thanks again guys.

In bold, that's a good time to spend time with your kids doing something "exercise wise."

whats lexa pro? why didn't they jsut put you on xanax or valium. controls anger without gainign fat. why you angry anyway?

    switch meds.

If Lexapro is causing that big of a weight gain I would say that is a side effect worth discontinuing therapy. There are sever other Selective Seritoin Reuptake Inhibitors that you could try (prozac, zoloft, paxil, celexa) that may not give you the same problem. Also there are other meds that work completely different that may help you and avoid the weight gain such as Strattera or Effexor. Talk to your Doctor and see what he thinks about switching to a different medication.

following the diet outlined in the cutting sticky should help you drop the weight regardless of excercise at your weight. eat breakfast, eat smaller meals every 3 hours, around 6 meals a day, eat lots and lots of protein, eat protein/carbohydrate meals in the morning/lunch, eat protein/fat/veggie meals in the afternoon/evening. I wouldn't recommend taking any ephedra based thermogenics with high blood pressure. Can you get on a stationary bike? Put one in your living room or your office, and try to do 20-30 mins a day to start.

secondly, LJG0069, welcome and be ready to lose that weight. first of all you need to lower your cals. by about 700 a day, everyday. lets not take it too fats, but you have a lot of fat to lose it seems so lets take it off. stay active. and if you can...cardio for 30-45 minutes sessions at least 7 times a week keeping your heart rate moderate (by that i mean you should be able to talk to someone or yourself fairly well, but you shouldn't be able to sing well at all). don't eat for at least 2 hours before hitting a session. eat clean and do some searches on what clean foods are. there are plenty that you will enjoy so just look around. ask questions and research my man. dedication will be key for you. the fat will be gone if you have the dedication and motivation. you came here and asked and thats step one. now tackle the problem and we're all here for you... good luck my man

Thanks alot guys. I don't know any of you personally, but it is nice to know that there are people like you guys who will take the time to help someone else. In the next couple of days, I will post the diet that I am going to go on. Any input will be much appreciated.

Thanks novastepp, I don't think that tinyguy2 was trying to be insulting, he just doesn't understand that everyone has a different chemical makeup. Just for the sake of argument, lets say that my chemical balances are a little off, hence the need for the Lexapro.

BTW, here is a link to a complete description of Lexapro for anyone wondering what it is: http://www.drugs.com/mtm/l/lexapro.html

i think the reason the DOCTOR!!!!!!! put him on Lexapro instead of xanax or valium is simple he is a DOCTOR he has his reasons for putting him on a certin type medication then other's.

well if hes gaining massive weight, then the DOCTOR should put have put him on another ssri or something else like xanax. Think about it whats better him being angry and depressed or him being fat with diabetes or some other diease caused by being obese? Think before you act like an asshole for no reason. jsut becasue your a doctor doesnt mean your always right.

Lenny, there are a lot of people on here that can and will help you lose the fat but as already said you need to stay motivated. My father in-law is about your size and is 72 with bad knees, back, shoulders, etc. He started walking about 10 mins a day and built that up to 30 mins a day and now carrying a 5lb dumbell with him. My point is that start small, make yourself some real goals and try and reach them. If you fall short, re-write them and make them reachable. Keep your diet clean but remember you are only human so if you cheat once in awhile don't sweat it! Nothing comes fast so take your time and keep your goals and you will lose all that you want.

I think the problem from your posts didnt stem from you asking why the Dr didnt put him on Xanax or Valium, but the fact that you asked him why he was angry anyway.

god dam, too bad i cant delete all those posts

when you gonna get your diet out here man? just take an hour or so to examine the cutting sticky and decide what your main sources of protein and carbs are going to be. lay it out like this...

    example

    6:00 - 60min cardio
    1/2 cup oatmeal 30g carbs
1 can tuna chicken 33g protein

    9:00 - ...............

even just walking constantly on a treadmill for 60min would be good for cardio in the beginning
