I am trying to gain weight and i am on a 5000 calorie diet right now. I get about 3000 calories from a calorie drink and the other two from the food i eat. Will this diet help me gain weight or do i need more calories from solid food?

List diet with macros.
List stats and cycle experience if any.
You need more calories from solid food, around 85%+
if you are taking in those 3000 calories from teh drink at one time... you are going to gain fat...fast.
let's see the diet.
3000 calories at one time?!?! absolutely not, spread them out.
What drink are you taking in that many from???
I'd imagine some insane weight gainer, which are sh_t IMO.Originally Posted by sircharles
why would fat be gained fast taking it a lot of calories at once ?Originally Posted by novastepp
your body isn't going to be able to process that many calories into energy. therefore they will be stored.Originally Posted by needbigguns
that is tru but the rest of the day you'll be using you stored energy for maintance (fat, carbs). As the body does have to use some energy to convert carbs into fats in the first place you may be even buring more calories opposed to eating 6-8 times a day.. Nevertheless eating only 1 time a day has several other disdvantages..Originally Posted by novastepp
instead of weight gainer add a few scoops of whey to a gallon of milk and sip throughout the day.
so why store fat only to use it later? stupid idea to me. just eat small meals and inbetween your body will use fat. doesn't make sense to want to store it first.Originally Posted by AleX-69
and you're only going to burn fat for so long before going catabolic...you need a steady flow of aminos.
Eating less frequent larger meals will actually slow metabolism and cause you to hold more fat. Also there are very few if any on this site that need 5-6K calories to actually grow LBM, I think many here over-do it as far as calories go and add shakes to the day when in reality they just need to make better judgements on their foods they are eating/frenquency/and make time for preparation so they aren't forced to drink shakes or resort to worse alternatives.
Fordfan, post your diet, I'm sure it is all jacked up. You won't grow quality muscle off of 3000 liquid calories/day. Period.

I was just going to type this, def. don't consume over 1/2 you cals in one meal. Eat that way will slow your metabolism down to a hault.Originally Posted by IBdmfkr
