    How many GRAMS of protein per POUND of Bodyweight for bulking?

    Is 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight enough when bulking (obviously more would be better but in general)

    I've read anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 when bulking....so go figure..

    As of now, I am consuming 2g per lb of body weight

    1g is pretty low IMO I would shoot for 1.5 min and preferably 2.

    It varies from person to person and their bodytype/goals from bulk.. Obviously you'd up the protein and drop the carbs a bit on a leaner bulk, where-as on a dirtier bulk you'd up the carbs etc.. I cycle carbs all year around, it just varies depending on if I'm bulking or cutting for contest.

    I would never go that low personally, have risk of losing valuable muscle.
    For my clean bulk, I plan on eating close to 2.5g's of protein per lbs.
    Why not eat more than 1g, it can't hurt ya?

    if you eat plenty of carbs there should be no need at all for more than 1g/ib unless you want it as clean extra kcal.

    True, carbs will spare protein to be used as energy, I just happen to really like food. Another reason why mine is so high

    Didnt realy direct my post to you I often eat alot more than 1g/ibs since I love food aswell and my body doesnt like carbs(or well my fat deposit do)

    for me (im lean, trying to bulk) i aim for at least 1.5, maybe 2. mainly so i keep in check my carb/pro/fat ratio and get 'healthy' calories.

    Currently trying out the low protein/high carb approach to see how it works, around .8g protein/lb LBM. Rest is mostly Carbs and a little fat. I think people way over-do the amount of protein they take in each day.

    It varies bro.. I just now started playing with the diet, all depends on your goals etc.. obviously your LBM would play a role in your BMR so each individual would differ.

    ya, I knew it would vary on individuals, just curious how many you take in on workout days? Let me know when you find the "sweet" spot

    I agree. One of the things that I know I should do its just hard to break the habit. I like food too much As long as I don't see any extra bodyfat that isn't necessary..It'll be hard to stop

    Yup, as long as Im not puttin on bodyfat I see no problem having a shit load of protein. I mean what harm can it do. I keep my carbs and protein around the same level. So even if I cant utilize all the protein, no big deal it will just cause to glucogenisis...probably not as bad for bodyfat as having my carbs too high.

    But whatever works for whoever.

    Yep..whatever makes me feel better at the end of the day I guess. Is 2g per lb of bodyweight absolutely necessary? No. Can it hurt like you said? Not unless the excess is being stored as bodyfat (noticably). I really couldn't feel productive eating 200g of protein a day, nor would I feel like my appetite was met.

    Definitely Chest. Like Ronnie always says..."tha mo protein tha betta."

    I like getting 400g+ per day and dont plan on changing it, have had great results so far.

    I've dropped mine to .7-.8g/lb LBM and compensated with carbs for the last week and the intensity of my workouts and overall energy levels are great. Keep you posted on progress.
