If you had to choose between the two for dieting, yams carry more nutritional value with less fat can that be agreed upon?

1 cup of oats has 16 grams of fiber and 660 calories. I couldn't eat 1 whole cup of oats a a sitting.
yams are higher in simple sugars (fructose)and have a gigher GI index value. Oats have more fiber thus they fill you up faster and lower the GI index value of the foods they are consumed with. And they satisfy you better. But I dont eat oats they are for horses. haha

yams have less fat though then oatmeal right?
I like my oats....2 cups in my first meal...and another cup later on in the day...I do include yams also but what and when i eat during the day relies on many variables...
I think the amount of fat in either Oats or Yams are negligible and should not really factor into anything.Originally Posted by speedtraining
