Can somebody please explain the benefits of taking 80 grams of Dextrose PWO instead of consuming say 80 grams of honey or fruit juice concentrate.

both honey and fruit are high in fructose, Many ppl say that fructose is not suitable for PWO as it replaces liver glycogen but not muscle glycogen. However many ppl are going with a new school of thought on pwo and not using high gi carbs at all. Powdered oats are becoming very popular. I use them when not on slin and find them good for PWO.
You eat them beast or shake em? How much?
50g pro 80g powdered oats in shaker.
1/3 of a cup??? why so little carbs?
then a meal an hour later? More oats!
What time do you train bro?

Fructose has a lower GI than glucose because it takes more steps to convert it to glycogen.
Fructose is only converted in the liver as well, pretty much what beast said
My PWO consists of 60 gram pro shake and 7 rice cakes, a banana, and some honey in the shake....
you worry too much about details.Originally Posted by Columbus

I agree just have some carbs. its not really worth worrying too much unless you are running slin.Originally Posted by Undecided09

I prefer complex carbs mostly because I prefer to chew my food not drink it. I manage to stay sub 8% as well and I don't really worry about PWO carbs (just as long as I get some)
