The best weight gaining ingredient isn't a macronutrient
It's a condition: consistency.
Gaining weight, i assume we're talking muscle here, requires dedication and consistency.
It requires not missing meals.
It means eating on times.
etc.
No macro is 'more important' than another... although some stress the all importance of protein.
The fact of the matter however is that is the interaction between macronutrients (rather than macros acting 'alone') that precipitates muscle growth.
Eat all protein and you'll see.. you'll lose weight... both fat and muscle. Eat all carbs and you'll gain weight.. but probably lose muscle... the same goes for an all fat diet.
Thus it must be concluded that there is no 'best' ingredient.. but rather what's best is the conscious and consistent supply of each.
Find out your BMR... Find out how many calories you need to maintain your weight... and eat more than this amount.
That's the short story.
Piling calories in indiscriminately is a no-no.

lol, yep chest has been reading the boards too much. He's unaware of how few calories it actually takes to grow.
Curious to see this particular diet and how many shakes you drink/day.Last edited by IBdmfkr; 12-13-2006 at 11:23 AM.

I grew the most that I've ever grown on a 3500-3700 calorie diet for 3-4 months.
