Yams
Can I replace sweet potatoes with yams?
-
They are virtually the same thing unless you're getting real yams imported from the Caribbean or somewhere in Latin America where they have real yams. If you're getting them in a can, likely they are actually sweet potatoes in a can of light syrup. The moist, soft-textured sweet potato are often called "yams" to distinguish them from the dry-textured but they are really both sweet potatoes. Which are you eating?
