i do i do, it just seems like everytime i cook it , its so hard and disguisting. no where near the way it taistes as if a restaurant cooked it (a bit damp and softer). just trying to get the key trick to cooking it just right.
I microwave frozen veggies all the time, I'm not too sure I believe in all that BS about microwaves destroying foods etc..
I'll take my chances, I microwave 5 out of 7meals/day otherwise I'd have to leave it on my dash to heat up or eat it cold.
you can buy a cheap food steamer. Just put water in and turn it on. mine cost $20 and works like a charm
Is it portable? Can I take it with me in my cooler?
Depends on how big your cooler is. I have one, and it's pretty big. Around the size of a deep-frier.Originally Posted by I**mfkr
Works well though, and they usually have a spot where you can add herbs or spices to be steamed into the vegatables.
I like putting a garlic clove or small onion in there to add a different flavour to my veggies.

Why not just eat your veggies raw?
They have a much better effect on your metabolism that way and you get much more nutrients as well.
A lot of vegetables are hard to digest raw. Broccoli and cauliflower come to mind.Originally Posted by I**mfkr
I've found that throwing it into a pot of boiling water for 1-2 minutes and immediately rinsing with cold water keeps it crisp but not raw like. For me, eating it raw produces a lot of gas.![]()
You don't digest fiber anyhow which is what most Green veggies are made up of so being they are raw will actually make the digestive tract work much harder burning more calories during the process and the roughness will help to cleanse from what I've heard?Originally Posted by Coop77

I have a steamer just like this, only I have the larger "Family" size on.
after you boil the broccoli, throw the bastards into some cold water to "shock" the broccoli. This stops the cooking process, enhances crunchiness and taste! don't ask me why i know this
this is know as "blanching". The best way to cook your veg that will last a few days and tast good its to do this :Originally Posted by Rocky9
Put themina pan of boiling water at beging of week and cook until 3/4 done, then transfer into ice cold water.
Next devide up into portion sizes and use daily by heating in microwave. This keeps em nice and this method is used in ig hotels ive worked in
