    Tuna

How much tuna is too much? I weight 176 pounds. Can I eat 9 cans with 150 grams of tuna(light) a week without getting mercury poising?

there are a variety of levels of effects from mercury. There is a mercury calculator online that will tell you where you are on the maximum dose. At 9 cans a week, you would be far higher than that. If i were you, i'd diversify your protein sources.

I have calculated on the gotmercury site. I should only eat 1.5 - 2 cans a week. I like tuna because it´s high in protein and low carbs and fats and I don´t have to cook it. I guess I have to stop eating tuna and eat more chicken, beef and eggs.

I think worrying about poisoning from too much tuna is a bit over-the-top. I'm sure 9 cans/wk won't take your life.

    I do 2 cans a day.

I seriously think you'll be fine. My original post was not meant as a flame, I just reckon there's probably other areas of your diet and training you could focus your time on more productively.

Yeah. From what I have read on the net mercury is worst for pregnent women and children. I´m going to eat one can of light tuna a day from monday to friday and 2 cans a day saturday and sunday if I won´t change my diet and eat something else.

it also depends on what part of the world the tuna comes from...there's an article somewhere about it...when cutting, i go from chicken, to xtra lean turkey, to tuna (4 weeks)...and during that time, i'm downing 4 cans a day...but like mentioned, it's more of a concern with pregnancy...

for those who eat the tuna because it is easy to perpare, not sure if you are already but you should look into the canned chicken, pretty freaking good if you ask me.

That's just sick shit eating that much canned tuna.. have enough respect for yourself to eat tuna steaks atleast.. canned tuna is like eating cat food or fish sticks.

I got tuna steak from Wegmans (for those who have that store near them) dont need to refrigerate. Comes in a bag, just heat a few secs, great protein and tastes delicious!

I can't say, everyone would stop eating it.

I used to know a girl who worked on a fishing boat where they'd seperate the fish by quality, guess which ones go in the canned food (they don't throw a fish back just because it has a tumor or is sick btw)

I**mkfr You must be rich man, your always eating natural food and hormone free chicken and steaks. Not that it doesnt pay off your legs look awsome man, But some of us are poor and it's all we got. Adapt and overcome!

Stop buying drinks at the bar on the weekend/fast food/restaurants/girlfriend/supplements and spend your money where it counts.. You'd be supprised how much money you save if you need to and if you are truely dedicated to the sport.

    I'm far from rich.

btw, you can get good meats for very cheap by the lb, chicken/turkey/some fish/pork loin etc are all under 3$/lb, that's less than 10$/day for the average person to eat whole foods, carbs and veggies are extremely cheap too. Learn to cook your foods and stop buy frozen entrees and canned crap.
