new to forum, couple of diet questions....
hey guys I have read a lot of good posts here but still have a few questions about my diet. I am trying to cut down and can be as strict as I need to be on a diet. Right now I am eating a cup of oatmeal in the morning with a protein shake and then maybe 1/2 a cup of oatmeal with some protein post workout(usually workout around 10 in the morning) and that is about all the carbs I get in the day. Is that bad? I have read a lot about brown rice but If I am trying to burn fat when do I need to eat it during the day. Is it ok to eat it with my dinner at night? I looked at numerous diets on here and some eat it early and some late in the day. Most of my protein now comes from chicken, turkey, tuna, and protein shakes and I am kinda burned out on just eating meat at my meals. Also is Natural PB bad for a cutting diet, because I love that stuff. If it is ok then when? I also read a lot about cottage cheese, is that ok and when. Thanks a lot in advance.

I always prefer to take almost all my carb early in the morning... so i don't feel weak during the day... I leave just 20-30 g to take an hour before my work-out in the afternoon....
Write down your diet so we can give suggestions....

I dont really have a "set" diet that I eat everyday, but it usually goes something like this.
Wake up
1)1 cup oatmeal and protein shake(every shake I drink is 40g pro/200 cal/2g carbs)
workout
2)shake and 1/2 cup of oatmeal
3)2 grilled chicken breasts for lunch
4)shake in the afternoon
5)2 grilled chicken or either turkey breasts for dinner
6)shake before I go to bed
Now there are a lot of times that I substitute a can of tuna instead of chicken for lunch or maybe some turkey. I also may eat a couple of wheat thins throughout the day or maybe some beef jerkey.
I also sometimes may eat some egg whites instead of the protein shake in the morning if I have time. Its not really that technical, but I really was wanting to add a few more things to it if I could but I just dont know what would be best. Any help would be great.Last edited by deucefan; 02-13-2007 at 06:26 PM.

Ok... post your stats also: age, weight, if you know your body fat....Your diet, doesn't seems bad to me... Maybe you have too many shakes in there... Specially before you go to sleep it's reccomended to have something solid so your body has something to work to... I myself eat a can of tuna (no oil) and a fat free yogurt...

its good to have a diet mapped out so that you can see whats really happening and so when you tweek it you can see what helps and what doesnt. in other words write it out with macros and all and follow it, other wise if its not working you wont know what to do because your diet is different from day to day, making any sense? GL bro!

BTW you can still make substitutions in the diet (say from chicken to tuna) as long as the macros match, fat, prots, carbs etc...

I am not really understanding what "macros" are. Is that just the ratios of my cals/pro/carb?
I am 25 years old, 6'1 and 210, I have some muscle but just kinda have some chunk around the midsection I need to get rid of. I have lifted for about 5 years now, but had to take the last year off of lifting because of work. Now I am trying to get back into it again.
had another question, I know green beans are good, what about english peas and carrots? Also should I be taking flax oil?
Thanks a lot guys. I am going to try to map out a diet for myself and see how that goes. I have been on the diet I am on now for about a week now. Hopefully with a little tweaking it can get even better.
