Cut out Diet Coke - Cut Weight!

I have heard all the short forms of comments on Diet COke how is bad yada yada. Until i read this article i didnt really listen to anyone. This isnt a ploy for the book and could give two shits if you get it but I liked the info about

This is taken from a book called "Skinny Bitch" that my girlfriend calls her bible.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
"Brace yourselves, girls: Soda is liquid Satan. It is the devil. It is garbage. There is nothing in soda that should be put into your body. For starters, soda's high levels of phosphorous can increase calcium loss from the body, as can its sodium and caffeine. You know what this means-bone loss, which may lead to osteoporosis. And the last time we checked, sugar, found in soda by the boatload, does not make you skinny! Now don't go patting yourself on the back if you drink diet soda. That stuff is even worse. Aspartame ( an ingredient commonly found in diet sodas and other sugar free foods) has been blamed for a slew of scary maladies, like arthritis, birth defects, fibromyalgia, alzheimer's , lupus, multiple sclerosis, and diabetes. When methyl alcohol, a component of aspartame, enters your body, it turns into formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is toxic and carcenogenic. Laboratory scientists use formaldehyde as a disinfectant or preservative. They don't f u c k i n g drink it. Perhaps you have a lumpy a s s because you are preserving your fat cells with diet soda. The FDA has recieved more complaints about aspartame than any other ingredient up to date. Want more bad news? When aspartame is paired with carbs, it causes your brain to slow down its production of serotonin. A healthy level of serotonin is needed to be happy and well balanced. So drinking soda can make you fat, sick and unhappy."
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

So i thought i would give it a shot and cut out the whole soda thing. sure enough Since then I have dropped 7 lbs in about a week and a half. Gmy same diet just no diet coke. This has me more pumped than ever as i feel so much more amped... Most of you already know this but some of you may not and thought I would share. By the way this book made my girl friend a vegan whihc im not complaining she is looking hotter than ever!

I did the same thing and I could not believe the difference. I also felt much better. I was drinking 2-3 diet sodas a day plus 6-12 cups of coffee a day with packet of aritificial sweetner per cup.

I have been using Stevia. It is a plant, 100% natural and it is 300 times sweeter than sucrose. It is great for sweetening hot drinks, oats. It does not degrade at low temp so can be used for cooking. It has been shown to have a beneficial effect on blood sugar levels. It has 0 cals and no carbs. Try it.

Hmm dropping all artificial sweetners.....arghhh that would be tough.

    1) Sweetners in coffee - I guess this i could deal with
    2) Oatmeal - This would be very difficult as it really make the oats taste better
    3) Postworkoutshake - This would also be tough to drop

Other than that thats where I only use artifical sweetners. Over the next 10 weeks of my cut I will bedropping diet soda and all artificial sweetners and see if it has any impact.

Did we conclude that stevia is ok to use though?

So Stevia is acceptable im assuming? PerfectBeast if you dont mind me asking, which online store do you get yours in bulk. In Publix it was pretty expensive, 6 dollars for 50 packets I believe.

I buy from an ebay store that sells the raw powder.
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...3293&rd=1&rd=1

It is in UK im sure you can find similar in USA, The raw powder is better as it contains good nutrients which are lost once refined, It is ideal for a cutting diet as it is NOT a carb and lowers blood sugar so no insulin spike. 0 cals too.

It has no calories and no glycmic index so its not altering blood sugar levels. Other than being safe for diabetics and the microbicroble benefits i just dont see the point since the taste isnt all that great. But thats just my oppinion.

I need to find out why the FDA wont approve it in US Foods. Anyone know the answer please let me know?

My training partner uses this. It's good stuff. I just have a couple thousand packets of splenda left before I'll give it a go.

I just discovered Cherry coke Zero 1-2 cans a day was nice. But all that shit about aspertame, it takes a ton of the stuff, its like the fight against tuna and mercury poisoning. To each his own and if it works for you thats awsome don't change. But short of the sodium for water retention and the actually liquid for water retention I don't think its to bad. I use to sprinkle seasonal salt on my chicken and that was 350mg of sodium so I dont think the 35mgs from diet soda is going to kill me. However I did find McCormicks sodium free chicken seasoning now. 0mgs of Sodium
