The only way to get it 'in' is to administer it exogenously... For insulin administration protocols..check the insulin forum.
To get it up (i.e. increase its secretion) you can either ingest foods or supplements/substrates that increase it's secretion.
Carb ingestion in general causes insulin secretion.
The amount secreted depends on a number of factors...
The glycemic rating of the food in question is one such factor...
Some substrates (insulinogenic aminos acids etc.) also increase the secretion of insulin... often without the presence of carbohydrates.
You protocol depends on your goals..etc.

I just put 100grams of white sugar in my protein shake after the gym i have noticed a big differents since i started doing this, it dose the job for me.
I'm new to the whole insulin spike thing PWO...... what are the benefits of spiking it......sorry for the stupid question lol.......
It's a subject of much debate. The argument FOR it is that the spike in insulin will help increase the absorption of protein by your muscles and increase recovery. I've seen studies posted on here supporting both arguments. Run a search, there are many great threads on this. Johan posted one sometime back that showed consuming glucose and amino's pre-workout actually increases protein sythesis by 400% as opposed to a much smaller percentage post-workout. Personally, I have tried both methods (high GI vs low GI after a workout). Didn't notice much of a difference. I use a hybrid of the two now. I put oats and about 20gms of dextrose in my PWO shake. Read up and experiment with it.Originally Posted by boostedevo8
