Question Cheapest way to 3000 calories

My first post. I'm currently a very, VERY skinny guy standing at 5' 10" at 144 pounds. It really stinks right now and I'm going to start a workout routine very soon, probably today in fact. But first off, I need to know some inexpensive ways on how I should get a diet going with carbs, protein and of course about 2500-3000 calories per day.

Not even going to start using anything yet until I get going for about a month or so. Thank you guys for your help!

Wait at least 18 months to 2 years to use gear.

I guarantee you can hit 180lbs at least in the next year if you eat properly and healthily and workout correctly.

A kilo of frozen chicken a day and lots of brown rice or pasta is a cheap and easy way to get enough calories in. Don't forget your veggies though!

Frozen chicken is 5.00-7.00 a bag.
Eggs are 1.50 for a dozen.
Skim milk is 2.50 for a gallon.
    Tuna is .50 a can.
80% lean ground beef is 2.00 per pound.
Oatmeal is 1.75 for big container.
Whey protien is 20.00 for two pounds (at a grocery store).
Brown rice is 2.00 for a box.

There you go. Here's food for over a week. Good luck with bulking!

When's the best time to take the whey protein shake? Early? After workout?

Both. Also before a workout you want to take in quite a few carbs.
After a workout your body needs protein more than any other time.

    Tuna and eggwhites are cheap.
Brown rice and oats cost pennies per serving and can add WW pasta.

    Cheapest way to 3000 calories?

A box of cherry flavored pop tarts should do the trick.

You can buy TONS of tinned economy tuna for cheapness.

As for beef, I tend to buy WHOLE beef joints, cut them up into steaks and freeze em down, WAY cheaper than buying individual steaks.

Milk, eggs and your basic carbs arent that expensive, like rice, pasta, potatos, BUY THIS STUFF IN BULK!

Frozen chicken breasts tend to be cheaper than fresh chicken too.

I'm a part time student, about to be full time soon so im always looking for economising large amounts of food.

If you want a cheap protein powder the Optimum Nut. brand is a good buy for the money. Just pick up some whey (fast acting for pre and post workout) and caesin (long-acting for before bed, etc) and you can get by cheaply. Not a premium product but has worked fine for me

best to eat as much real food as possible though

1 kilo of oats is 50p in england. i powder them up and chuck 100gms in my preotein shake. 3 of these per day is about 1800-2000 extra cals (protein and ots mixed together)

Hmm, you want the cheaper 3000 calories, I suggest you down gasoline or cooking oil. The cheapest way usually isnt the best... I think you should make sure you get the protein/carb/fat ratios balanced well... I think the best cheap sources being tuna, chicken, oatmeal, pasta...

You can also suppliment with cheap whey from the internet...
