are you asking pre or post?

for pre i like a shake with
    10oz of chocolate soy milk
2-3 tbls of smart balance pb
    1cup of oats
    1tsp of cinn
maybe some flax seed if i feel like it

    for post i like
1 1/2 cups of unsweetened applesauce and 12oz of pineapple juice not from concentrate. then pizza or Frito pie, seriously.

Fish is my choice for pre and post workout. Nothing is better imo, and I usually have oats with both meals as well. Sometimes I will throw in some no sugar added jam befroe the workout to fill liver glycogens.

Tilapia is available in Canada. Herring is also a good choice for its great amino acid profile.

Most people immediately think protein drink or bar, and though they are good for this, your body really needs carbs (like the oats in Bino's). So a more complete drink or bar, a meal replacement would be more appropriate.

The great Milos Sarcev (a guy who knew a little about definition ) once said and I'm paraphrasing him, "My pwo is often a big low or high fat blueberry muffin, because it's carbs your body needs at this time, and the severe glycogen depletion affords you faster fat processing."

Def. agree with magic here too. Carbs are so important after workout. I have a cup of oats (uncooked) and than have about 8oz tilapia or herring afterwards.

I love shrimp when I can afford it, broiled. Lox often (salmon fillets). Sword fish and shark once and a while, good fish that doesn't taste "fishy".

Those are good, but I prefer a traditional white, fast digesting fish for PWO.

PWO i used to use dextros for the PWO carb spike, but I heard potato's have a faster burning carb than dextros, so I eat a bak potato with my PWO shake, I just wash the potato poke a few holes in it and nuc it for 8 minutes

Potato's have a lesser impact on BG levels and thus on insulin ...
