working out carb depleted, yea or nea
I've been doing carb depleted work outs and Ive been hearing that they are counter productive. that you can start using protien as a fuel source. what Ive been doing is droping the carbs out 14 hours before going to the gym. I still eat lean protien right up till I go to the gym. should I include complex carbs before I go to the gym.
what do you guys think?
thanks in advance.

I bet your workouts are complete shit as a whole huh? If your answer is "Yes" then you know what to do.
I see no reason to carb deplete before going to the gym, where did you get this idea from?
I know back in the day I ran carbs low because I was ignorant. It is a world keeping carbs up.***No source checks!!!***

low carb equals no energy.... some times i rush to the gym and forget to eat my post work out meal and i feel like dog poop... i always end up leaving before my work out is done ...

Sounds like the fast road to catabolism.

That's fine IF you are cutting and IF you are still eating protein and fat. You'll get shakey after a while, but that's ok just push through. Your recovery will be kinda crappy without post workout carbs, but really who cares if you're cutting.
In order keep from losing muscle doing this, there are a couple things you have to do. Eat a lot of protein, like almost as much as you do to bulk if not the same. Lift as heavy as you can. If your body feels it needs the muscle, and has plenty protein, it will leave the muscle alone. You have too keep total calories close to maintenance. That way you just get a small energy imbalance at the cellular level due to the inefficiency of your primary fuel source (dietary fat). It will cause weight loss but not be enough to cause a drop in metabolism like you get from general calorie restriction in higher carb diets.
Also be careful adding cardio a little at a time. Creating too large of an energy imbalance will cause metabolic rate to lower.
This is for natural training by the way. If you're on gear, you should be able to get pretty extreme without losing muscle.
